SAMC Teens at Columbia College Chicago is a unique full-day arts program for ages 12 through 15 that helps attendees cultivate their existing skillsets while discovering new disciplines and talents. Featuring dynamic teaching artists, small class-sizes, guest workshops, and access to Columbia’s state-of-the-art facilities in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago, SAMC Teens brings together a diverse and inspiring community of students from Chicago, the U.S. and beyond.

In each two-week session, students will produce multiple pieces of work both independently and collaboratively, be challenged to think critically about themes woven into classes, and forge lasting friendships that outlive summer.

CAMP STRUCTURE

Students will be divided into groups based on grade levels to ensure classes and activities are appropriately customized. Each group will be assigned a counselor who joins them throughout the duration of the day, including class and lunch time. Groups will rotate between classes and have the opportunity to work with all teaching artists every day. Teaching artists often come from the Columbia community, are experienced in their respective disciplines, and work closely with counselors to tailor activities to each group.

Students need no prior experience and may attend one or all three sessions without repeating work. Sessions may revisit disciplines but themes will always vary. This, coupled with daily community building activities ensures students feel inspired and supported to test their creative boundaries.
