Although living off-campus, commuters are required to attend all classes and enrichment activities.


COST BREAKDOWN

Many students and parents/guardians are curious about what their Summer at Columbia tuition pays for. Here is a general cost overview of the program. Please note that the cost for Summer college credit is set by Columbia College Chicago.

  $2,121.00 - Tuition for 3-credit hour course at $707.00 per credit hour
+$1,504.00 - Housing and 45 meals over 3 weeks (residential students only)

THREE WAYS to Register FOR SUMMER AT COLUMBIA

REGISTER ONLINE

  1. Create your family account. Please note that an adult will need to do this, and teens can be added to the account later.

  2. Select one of the Summer at Columbia immersion programs and add it to your cart.

  3. If you are opting to commute, be sure to uncheck the On-Campus Housing option on the fees page.

  4. Pay your deposit or pay in full. Payment by all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover) is available.

REGISTER BY TELEPHONE

Call our Student Services Desk at 312-369-3100 during regular office hours to speak with a Student Services Specialist. Registrations are accepted from 10am–5pm, Monday through Saturday, Central Time. Payment by credit card is accepted.

REGISTER IN PERSON

Stop by our Student Services Desk on the 1st floor of the Sherwood building, 1312 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL during regular office hours to register and pay in person. Payment by credit card, check and cash (exact change only) is accepted for in-person registrations.


Financial Aid

We believe that a student's ability to pay should never be a barrier to participation. To that end, we offer a need-based financial aid option for any Summer at Columbia student that finds themselves unable to afford the full tuition of the program. More information about Summer at Columbia financial aid will be posted here once registration opens on December 7, 2018.

The Summer at Columbia program provides international students with a cutting-edge arts education in a world-class city.

Each year, students from Brazil, Ireland, Spain, the Dominican Republic, China, and many other countries around the globe attend high school programs at Columbia College Chicago. International students bring the world to Columbia's campus and provide opportunities for cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration.

requirements for non-U.S. students

Proof of English Proficiency – All courses will be taught in English. There are several ways to prove your proficiency:

  • You have attended school at the secondary level (high school) full-time where the language of instruction is English, or

  • You live in a country where English is the primary language, or

  • English is your native language, or

  • You have a TOEFL score of 70 iBT, or an IELTS of 6.0.

If you do not meet one of these requirements and you believe your English skills would allow you to be successful, please contact us at summer@columbia.edu and we can set up an interview with our Global Education team.

Visa

Students may attend on a tourist visa (B1/B2) or ESTA. We currently do not issue documents for students to apply for an F-1 Student Visa. Please ensure that you can stay in the USA on a tourist visa for the amount of time it takes to complete this program.

Insurance - Students must submit proof of international insurance coverage.
