While Columbia College's division of Continuing and Community Education is primarily focused on youth and teen programs for the 2018/2019 Academic Year, we do offer a small handful of adult programs at Sherwood Community Music School, along with individual music lessons, which are open to all ages. In the Summer, our office hosts the week-long Advanced Placement Summer Institute, for classroom teachers.

Columbia College offers many opportunities for adult engagement though Columbia Online, our world-renown Dance Center, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography. Adult learners are also welcome to take individual music lessons at Sherwood Community Music School.

Group Piano

Since 1895, Sherwood has been the destination for learning piano in Chicago, and our eight-week Group Piano classes are a great place to begin your musical journey. In these classes, you’ll get the opportunity to try out the keyboard and interact with people like you. All group piano classes take place in our digital keyboard lab, and are open to anyone who wishes to participate.

A new Group Piano program begins every 8 weeks for new students. Once a student enrolls in the Group Piano program, they will typically continue with that same group of students, at the same day and time every term, until either the student become advanced to the point of moving into private instruction, enrollment in the class dwindles down below the minimum required to run the class, or until the student chooses to drop out of the program altogether.
